It’s worth noting that termites are by nature silent destroyers, and they can spend years eating through your house’s foundation without leaving any significant traces.

As a result, regular building and pest inspection appointments are critical to assisting you in identifying such issues early on and deploying appropriate measures to control the situation before it spirals out of control.

What Is a Termite Inspection?

A termite inspection is considered the property’s annual health check for termite signs.

During this inspection, it is possible to determine whether there are or have ever been termites on the property, as well as what environmental conditions make the property more vulnerable to termites entering the property.

According to the Australian standards AS 4349.3 & AS3600-2000, a competent visual timber pest inspection should be performed at least every 6-12 months, depending on the overall risk of termites.

Thorough Termite Inspection

A termite inspection goes beyond a visual inspection of the readily accessible areas of your home for evidence of termite damage and/or termite workings or damage. It is the first step in the subterranean termite management process and should be the minimum measure homeowners should take at the least annually to keep their homes safe from expensive repair bills.

A termite inspection allows the inspector to determine the status of their home and take the most appropriate actions in consultation with the homeowner to protect their home based on the detailed information of the findings and risk of subterranean termite attack. The risk of termite attack will vary greatly with the geographical location (pressure from subterranean termites), construction features and environmental conditions that make the home more attractive to termites.

A termite inspection will also locate and make recommendations in relation to environmental conditions found that termites are attracted to such as drainage and moisture issues. And construction features that make the structure conducive to attack such as patios and paths attached to the structure or timber structures in contact with the soil and attached to the main structure.

Don’t leave your home vulnerable to termite infestation. Termites damage one in every five homes in Australia, and in most cases, such damage is not covered by your home insurance.

With our comprehensive termite inspections and termite control solutions, you can put your worries to rest. Allow our pest technicians to be your first point of contact for all termite-related issues.

02Property Inspection and Assessment

We visually inspect all exposed timbers during the inspection, including skirtings, architraves to doors, windows, and ceiling timbers, as well as fences, gardens, and general landscaping.

03Termite Control Recommendation

When your inspection is finished, we will go over the findings with you to ensure that you have a thorough understanding of the findings and to answer any questions you may have. We will then provide you with a detailed recommendation outlining the technician’s findings as well as the termite treatment plan for your property.

04Termite Prevention and Treatment

We have a lot of experience with termite protection and treatment because we live in such a high-risk termite area, including termite inspections, monitoring, baiting, and pre-construction barriers. We provide local pest control solutions that are quick, safe, and responsive, backed by the assurance that comes with Enviro PCS.

05Documentation and Pest Control Report

Australian Standards recommend at least one per year. If you live in a high-risk area, your termite specialist may recommend more than the minimum.

You will get a completed inspection report once the inspection is completed. Our thorough inspections result in reports that are easy to understand and include recommendations and findings. Our reports include termite activity and damage, location of nests, susceptible areas, moisture areas, drainage problems and water leaks, treatments required and recommendations on how to resolve any found issues.

Professional Tools Required for Termite Inspections

Standard tools for a visual inspection will include a bright torch, 3.6 meter step ladder, measuring tape, moisture meter, probe or knife and timber sounding tool and required PPE.

A moisture meter will allow the inspector to pick up excessive moisture in timer and in walls. This could indicate a water leak of some description – highly conducive condition for subterranean termite attack or in some cases if there is enough activity, active termites.

Non-standard tools that can be used and should be available are movement devices, such as Termatrac or Thermal Imaging Cameras. These tools can be highly valuable to an inspector to investigate further any concerns that the inspector may have in relation to the property without getting invasive straight away and cutting holes or drilling holes in walls.

Why do you need a termite inspection?

Termites cause more damage to homes in Australia than fires, storms, and earthquakes combined. Termite infestations are aggravating, expensive, damaging, and downright disastrous. Hence, you need a professional exterminator to do the job.

If you see any signs of a termite infestation or live in an area that is prone to termite infestations, we recommend that you book a termite inspection today. Chat with us today or call our team on (02) 9638 4099!

Subterranean Termites

Termites are insects that live in highly organised and structured colonies, and in the case of the most destructive subterranean species often in exceptionally large numbers. Due to their nature, there is often not many obvious signs that they are attacking a structure. If attacks to structures are going unnoticed, eventually major damage will been done to the structure leading to potentially dangerous structures, and expensive repair bills. This alone should be reason enough to ensure that regular termite inspections are undertaken at your property.

While performing pest control in Sydney, we see termite attacks on structures that are inspected every year or more frequently. In these cases, the attacking subterranean termite colony has not had the chance to cause enough damage to require an expensive repair bill. We also will be contacted by people who have not had inspections in years or have never had an inspection. In these cases, a lot of the time the repair bills will be quite large as the offending colony has been eating the structure unnoticed for long periods of time.

Pre-Purchase Termite Inspection in Sydney

Many parts of Sydney have pest infestation problems, and most people looking to buy a home don’t know if it has a termite problem or not. An inspection is the best way for people to learn about the overall condition of the property, including any pest problems it had. These pests can pose a health and safety risk, lowering the property’s value.

Our certified pest and building inspectors will look for termites and other pests. The inspector will provide you with a detailed report detailing any past and present pest-related issues and damage to the property. The report will assist you in putting in place the necessary safeguards to protect your investment.
